Computer Technician II

PURPOSE/SCOPE OF POSITION          

Responsible for the installation of peripherals and components, as well as the configuration of server appliances to work order requirements, build instruction and Customer/Patriot specifications. Functions include but are not limited to: integration and setup of appliances, troubleshooting and repair, compatibility issues, software download and installation, bench and burn-in diagnostics and quality assurance.

Assumes the responsibilities of the Lab Manager during his/her absence. Works in conjunction with the Lab Manager in developing, maintaining and updating standard operating procedures, work instructions for production and product build instructions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Installation and/or replacement of components in server or server- like appliances
  • Identifies equipment malfunctions or issues on standard customer configurations
  • Uses diagnostic tools to troubleshoot problems related to hardware and software configurations
  • Load software following appropriate protocol, business partners’ requirements and customer specifications
  • Perform hardware configuration and component installation using appropriate material handling techniques and  OEM specifications and Patriot or Customer-supplied build instructions
  • Supervise day-to-day operations based on direction from Lab Manager
  • Follows processes set up to track materials within the lab, i.e. material request forms, ERP system charging and component serial number association to finished good part number
  • Meeting daily production schedule demands based on direction from Lab Manager
  • Supports, participates and adheres to the Quality Management system
  • Other duties and assignments as provided by Department Manager

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Training
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Hardware and/or software technical degree or equivalent experience

Licensure and/or Certifications       

  • A+ Required
  • N+ Preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 12 months related experience required
  • Server Based Hardware Support

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Able to effectively communicate technical information both orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to delegate responsibilities
  • Able to operate effectively in a team environment with both technical and non-technical team members
  • Able to anticipate, identify and resolve problems utilizing available technical resources
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and schedule form

  • Keep workstations and immediate area clean
  • Knowledge of x86 PC architecture
  • Ability to build and configure PC/Server based computer
