Rich joined Patriot as a Security Architect in 2005 and held various technical positions before being named CTO in August 2007. Rich focuses on the company’s technical vision and leads all aspects of the company’s technology development. Rich plays an integral role in the company’s strategic direction, development and future growth.
Prior to Patriot he was the Director of Intrusion Deterction Engineering for Enterasys Networks, where he was responsible for the design, development, ongoing product roadmap and industry certification initiatives of the Dragon Intrusion Defense Suite. He was also the lead Security Researcher of the Dragon Analysis and Response Team which was responsible for monitoring emerging threats, vulnerability analysis, timely release of IDS signatures and developing competitive intelligence. Rich was one of the original members of Network Security Wizards, a pioneer in the Intrusion Detection industry. The products developed by Network Security Wizards were considered “best of breed” in the security industry and received numerous awards including Network Computing Magazine’s “Well Connected Award” from 2000 to 2002. Rich has over 15 years of IT, security and management experience. In addition to Enterasys, Rich has worked for USinternetworking (USi) and Marriott International in a variety of systems engineering, systems programming, storage management and disaster recovery assignments. Rich holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Mount St. Mary’s University.
